What is it?
Led by Lynemouth-based Seabait Limited and Newcastle University, this project
will create a not-for-profit, high tech aquaculture incubator space for research and development, product and process development as well as an industry education centre.
Seabait is a world leader in the bioscience and mass production of marine organisms for fish and crustacean aquaculture.
The facilities will attract knowledge-based new businesses as well as creating local opportunities for the development and production of hardware.
The vision for CESAR is to provide
- A world class research and development centre in invertebrate aquaculture attracting local and international students and commercial enterprises
- A state-of–the-art facility to allow the rapid translation of research concepts into commercially viable processes and products
- Outstanding leadershipin applied aquaculture and sustainable development
- International educational and employment opportunities for the local community
- Development of a cluster of small businesses through inward investment and guided local entrepreneurship
