FATHER AND SON MAKE A CLASSIC TEAM
A father and son from Northumberland have combined their business expertise and launched their own firm. David Robson and his son, also called David, have set up Classical Gas, a Stakeford based business which covers all aspects of service and repair of gas appliances, specialising in boilers, AGAs and gas tumble dryers.
Twenty-three year old David is a British Gas trained engineer who always wanted to own his own business. His dad has worked in administration and project management for 26 years and didn’t need much persuading to team up with his son and establish Classical Gas.
Working together is a dream come true for the two Davids who are enjoying every minute of their new business. David senior said: “We are very lucky to get on really well together and it’s great to be able to work alongside my son and help him realise an ambition to have his own company.”
The duo’s business venture has been given a welcome boost by support from Go Wansbeck – the district’s local enterprise growth initiative. Classical Gas received nearly £4,700 from Go Wansbeck’s Flexible Fund which has provided financial assistance to more than 100 new businesses in the area.
David added: “The business support available in Wansbeck has made us feel much more secure embarking on this new venture. The expert advice available has helped us to plan and develop our strategies and we are enjoying being a part of the local business community.”
Keith Raine, Go Wansbeck programme manager, said: “I am delighted that Go Wansbeck has been able to assist Classical Gas – the business is a great example of how it is possible for people to combine their skills and determination to establish their own successful business.”
