WEEN’s vision
An Enterprise culture will empower our young people to meet their aspirations and possess a strong sense of purpose allowing them to make their mark on the world therefore transforming their own futures and that of the wider community.
The WEEN team aims to promote and develop enterprising skills, qualities and attributes in young people from their earliest years through to adulthood. It is supported by education organisations and employers across the district.
Since December 2007, WEEN has overseen a number of exciting Enterprise programmes. These included ‘Enterprise Generator days’, in February when the WEEN team worked closely with Wansbeck based training and business development company New Tricks to stage a series of ‘Enterprise Generator’ days. The aim of these days were to allow students to experience a day as a business delegate within a conference setting while participating in a range of experiential enterprise outdoor activities. To round off the days, students had the opportunity to brainstorm ideas for enterprise projects and activities that could be established in their own schools and local communities.
Seven whole days of activities took place in late February, with pupils ranging from ages 9 to 18 from St Benedict’s Middle, Newbiggin Middle, Seaton Hirst Middle, Guidepost Middle and Hirst High having the opportunity to learn how they can develop their own personal Enterprise capability. WEEN are looking forward to replicating the success of these days by delivering further Enterprise Generator days throughout the Summer Term and into the Autumn term.
